Position Overview
We are looking for a Mid-level PHP WordPress Developer to take ownership of our website infrastructure and help us expand and optimize our online presence. You’ll work closely with our Product Manager and designer to implement new features and functionality while ensuring site performance, stability, and scalability.
This role is ideal for a proactive and independent developer who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment, takes pride in clean, maintainable code, and has experience managing the technical side of WordPress sites end-to-end.
Salary benchmarked to cost of living and experience level.
Although the role is 100% remote and we work async-friendly, you’ll need at least a 4-hour overlap with the Product Manager on GMT+2 i.e. you will need to reside between GMT and GMT+4.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage, maintain, and enhance TLYCS’s WordPress websites (.org and .org.au domains, using translation setup)
Customize themes and plugins to align with evolving organizational needs
Implement new features and layout changes based on specifications from the Product Manager
Optimize site performance and SEO through clean code, best practices, and technical enhancements
Troubleshoot issues and maintain high uptime and performance
Own the hosting environment, versioning, deployment processes (staging/live), and backups
Maintain integrations with tools such as:
ActiveCampaign (email automation)
Salesforce (CRM)
Donorbox (donations)
Mandrill
Zoho Pagesense (for A/B and Split URL testing)
Google Analytics (conversion tracking, event setup)
HubSpot
Implement JS/CSS minification and maintain modern, fast-loading code
Ensure website accessibility and compliance with web standards
Stay up to date with the latest WordPress, PHP, and security updates; proactively recommend improvements
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
5+ years professional PHP (7.4+ / 8.x) & WordPress CMS experience, with strong OOP, plugin & theme development (custom post types, shortcodes, widgets).
Experience with Elementor page builder, including building or integrating custom modules.
Strong familiarity with WP Engine (or similar managed WordPress hosts): managing staging/live environments, automated backups, and Git-based deployment workflows.
Solid front-end skills: ES6+ JavaScript (vanilla or jQuery), CSS/Sass, responsive design and build tools (webpack or Gulp).
Practical knowledge of technical SEO fundamentals (semantic markup, structured data, performance optimization).
Self-starter who can own full development cycles end-to-end and thrive in a remote setup.
Excellent problem-solving aptitude and clear communication skills, with references to vouch for remote work experience.

Salesforce or other CRM platforms
Google Tag Manager and advanced GA4 tracking
Accessibility compliance and WCAG guidelines
Direct experience with HubSpot CMS or HubSpot Marketing Hub
Familiarity with WPML (multilingual setups) and translation workflows
Prior work on high-traffic or donation-driven websites
