DownHome Solutions began with a frustrated community lender. Our founder Erik, unable to find affordable loan-management software that addressed the challenges he faced as a lender at a CDFI, began building his own software in the early 90s. It soon became clear that other community lenders faced the same frustrations, so in 1998, Erik founded DownHome Solutions to focus full-time on meeting the unique needs of CDFIs.

Over the years, the small-but-mighty team at DownHome has developed a reputation for robust, personalized customer support and continual innovation. In 2014, DownHome Loan Manager became the first cloud-based lending software designed expressly for CDFIs. In 2025, DownHome added loan origination to its offerings, making it an all-in-one home for community lending programs.

A deep understanding of community lending has always been at the heart of everything we do. From what we build to who we hire and how we price our products, our passion remains helping lenders plant the seeds of positive change in their communities.

Our team of multicultural software developers and support staff is fully remote and located around the globe. We keep in touch via video and slack for a friendly and productive team experience. How we hire:

First, we'll take a look at your resume and cover letter (make sure to follow the instructions in the description closely!) and provided you meet the requirements you'll hear back from us via email with a yes or a no. If you don't meet the minimum requirements, you aren't likely to receive an email reply. We wish we had time to respond to each and every one of you, but our team is very small and our jobs tend to generate thousands of replies!

If you're selected to move forward in the hiring process, we'll set up a video call with you where we can ask introductory questions for about 20 minutes.

If you move to the interviewing phase, we'll invite you to a video interview that is generally about one hour. 

If at any point you are not selected, we'll send you an email to let you know. We'll also email you if you move forward in the hiring process.
