Join a high-talent team to do the best work of your career, and live your #bestworklife
Float is the #1 rated resource management software, trusted by 4,500+ of the world’s top teams—including R/GA, Instrument, Deloitte, KPMG, and Airbnb. We’re a fully remote team of specialists working asynchronously across the globe—from Australia and Mexico to the UK, Nigeria, Canada, and India.
We hire (and pay) on merit, not location. We offer an equitable perks and benefits program so that everyone can shape a #bestworklife that is meaningful to them. Asynchronous-first promotes a culture of trust and gives our team generous agency over their time.
As a certified B Corporation, we’re committed to making a positive impact on our team, customers, the environment, and the remote work community. We’re proving that a values-driven, profitable tech company isn’t just possible—it’s the way forward.
We hold ourselves and our teammates accountable for these five values. Read more about our values
here.
Say the thing
We say the thing that needs to be said because long-term success is more important than short-term discomfort.
We don’t wait for perfect. We act, learn, and improve because that’s how great work gets made.
Respect each other's time
In a remote, async company, how we manage our time and others' time directly shapes focus, momentum, and output.
Seek growth
A growth mindset means there’s always room to learn, and we’re willing to do that learning out loud. That’s how we grow and evolve in an async culture.
One team
Great work rarely happens in isolation. We’re each responsible for our individual contributions but the quality of what we deliver often depends on how well we work together.
Policies
Application Review
When you apply to Float, you’ll always be asked a few questions as part of your application. Rather than getting you to upload a generic cover letter that, we ask a few targeted questions to understand your motivations to applying to that particular role, as well as learn a little bit about specific experience pertaining to that role. Our two biggest pieces of advice:
1. Don’t skip the application questions! They carry a lot of weight in your application.
2. Write your answers in your own words.
Our talent team ( hi, that’s us! Julia and Ashley!) works hard to ensure all applications are reviewed. We can’t promise that all applications will receive a response, but we will do our very best.
A note on the use of AI in application questions
We simply have too many incredible applicants to justify moving forward with a candidate who simply copy-pastes an AI-generated answer. If you’re using an AI tool to support with grammar or writing, all good - please disclose that in your application!
Screening Interview
If we think you could be a good fit, we’ll reach out to schedule a screening interview. This will be a 20-minute video interview.
The goals of this interview are to learn more about your
capacity and
alignment with Float. We will also ask 1-2 role-specific questions to ensure your role-specific experience aligns with the needs of the role.
We will also leave time for you to ask anything you’re curious about with regards to the role or working at Float. We recognize that interviews are a two-way street, and want to ensure you have the opportunity to evaluate us and ensure that the role is a good fit for you too!
ManagerInterview
Meet your future manager! This interview will be digging deep into your capability for the role. Expect role-specific questions, as well as your goals for the role, and how you’d see yourself growing in the next few years at Float.
For technical roles, this stage will typically be preceded by a take-home coding test or design scenario. Any asks of this nature will always be specified in the job description.
As always, be sure to ask questions to the interview panelist(s) about their vision for the role, questions about the day-to-day of this role, or anything that those closest to the role will know.
Co-Worker interview
Most roles include a peer interview with 1-2 folks you’ll be working closest with. This is an opportunity to meet the broader team, and for us to learn how you collaborate. This interview primarily focuses on capacity and alignment, and will be a great opportunity for us to learn more about how you’d approach working on a global, remote, async-first team.
And if we sound like we’re repeating ourselves, we are! Ask questions We find that the best candidates are curious and interested in learning more about the role from everyone they speak to. Everyone’s perspectives might be different, and that can help you!
Founder interview
Our final interview will be with one of our co-founders; Glenn (CEO) for non-technical roles, and Lars (CTO) for technical roles.
This interview will be a final tug at any threads we’re still curious about, and an opportunity to learn more about your goals for joining Float, your understanding and enthusiasm about how we work, and to ensure you are aligned with our values.
Psst:Ask! Questions!
Offer
Then we get to the *really* fun part: the offer!
This part is typically pretty straightforward as we are transparent about our pay and don’t negotiate.
That being said, you being a great fit for us also means being a great fit for you; so don’t hesitate to take your time in considering whether to join the team. Starting a new job can be a big deal, and we want to support you in making the best choice for you in order to live your Best Work Life
